The HTTPS lock of your website

What you get: that your website appears with a padlock and without the “Not secure” warning, and know what to do when the certificate takes time or does not appear.

Before starting

The certificate is requested only. You do not have to buy it, upload it, or request it by ticket. As soon as you create a site, the panel orders it; in the list of what is created, it appears “Website and SSL certificate”.

The only thing you need to get out is that your domain already points here. A certificate is issued by checking that the domain points to this server: if the domain still loads the old website, the check fails and there is no certificate. That’s why the order is always: first the domain (Point your domain here), then the lock.

Check how it is

In the row of your site, next to the domain, its status appears:

  • HTTPS active — done, there is nothing to do.

  • No certificate — the site does not have one yet.

  • The certificate is requested automatically within a few minutes. — it is running, wait.

You have two buttons:

  • Check — opens a real connection to the current domain and points to the result. It does not consult stored data: it tests the connection live.

  • Request it again - request the certificate again.

How to check it worked

Open https://tudominio.com in a private window of the browser - a normal one would show you what it has saved - and look at the lock. Click on it: it must say that the connection is secure and the certificate is valid.

Also try with www. in front. They are two names and both have to go.

Common problems

My website shows “Not secure”

If the site is from a while ago, wait a few minutes: it is requested only. If it takes hours, it is almost certain that the domain is still not pointing here; open the DNS screen and press “Verify everything”.

Press “Check” and it says it still does not respond with a certificate

The exact message is “it still does not respond with a certificate. If you have just created it, the issuance takes a few minutes”. Give it ten minutes and check again. If it is still the same at the time, press “Request again”.

The domain works but www does not, or vice versa

The subdomain www is missing. On the DNS screen there must be a CNAME for www pointing to your domain. If you have the DNS outside, copy it there.

The lock works but the browser says “mixed content”

The certificate is fine: what happens is that your website loads an image or a script via http:// instead of https://. It’s a matter of the website, not the server. In WordPress, any plugin that rewrites the addresses will fix it.

I use Cloudflare and get an infinite redirect error

It’s Cloudflare’s SSL mode. Set it to “Full (strict)”: with “Flexible”, Cloudflare makes it clear to us while your website thinks it’s using HTTPS, and the loops are set up.

I have just moved the domain and the certificate does not appear

First check that the domain responds here. While the DNS is halfway there - sometimes up to 48 hours - the emission fails again and again. When the DNS screen shows everything in green, press “Request again”.

Can I put my own certificate, a paid one?

From the panel no. If you have to use a specific one due to a customer requirement, write to us and we will assemble it for you.

I have a new subdomain and it is unlocked

Each name needs its own. Check that the subdomain exists in the DNS and note it here; as soon as it responds, it is requested only.
